Executive MBA with Specialisation in Tourism Management

Tourism Competence in Chur
The University of Applied Sciences HTW in Chur offers a successful bachelor study course in tourism in German and English, as well as a separate, equivalent study course in English.
International Executive MBA Programme
The HTW Chur offers this Executive MBA study course in collaboration with two tourism schools in Germany, the Steigenberger Akademie Bad Reichenhall and the European Institute of Hotel Management (Europäisches Institut für Hotelmanagement).
Duration and Class Schedule
The Executive MBA Programme includes 60 days of lectures which are spread over a period of 18 months. The lecture days are divided into 20 modules which are taught on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The MBA programmes generally commence in September. The lectures are held from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm (8.30-17.30). This schedule accommodates for the fact that most of the participants work fulltime during the course of their studies.
Language of Instruction
As an international EMBA programme it is advantageous and necessary that courses are held in more than one language. Appropriate to the target audience, classes are held in German and English. Participants are required to have excellent oral and written English skills.
Accreditation, Title and ECTS Study Credits
Successful graduates of the Executive MBA Programme may hold the title of “Executive Master of Business Administration (Executive MBA)”. The title is awarded by the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (Fachhochschule Ostschweiz FHO) and is recognised and protected by the Swiss federal government.
In accordance with the European Credit Transfer Systems (ECTS), the studies are awarded 60 credits. This is equivalent to the workload of an entire academic year as part of a fulltime master study programme.
Study Costs and Payment
The tuition fee of EUR 18,000 (including registration fee) comprises lectures, study material and textbooks, as well as the assistance through the programme administration and the guidance for the master’s thesis.
The registration fee of EUR 1,500 is payable after the applicant has received written confirmation of the registration and has been formally admitted to the studies.
Travel, food and accommodation have to be paid by the course participants themselves.
Special arrangements may be available for food and accommodation at the respective locations.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the Executive MBA Programme requires the following:
- A degree from a university or university of applied sciences. The director of studies may grant admission in exceptional cases.
- Five years professional experience in an executive position.
A written confirmation of the definitive admission and enrolment will be sent by the University of Applied Sciences HTW in Chur.
