Master Studies Tourism
Study Concept
The master studies offer an intensive and specialised professional education course in tourism. The studies prepare the participants for a responsible position in the professional world and/or subsequent PhD studies after the completion of the master studies. The focus lies on the development of products and services for tourism, as well as innovation and destination management which are oriented to the regional, national and international context. The small class sizes ensure individual and continual coaching throughout the program. Additionally, due to the various guest lecturers from the tourism industry, as well as the opportunity to participate in tourism associated research projects, true practical relevance is guaranteed. The programme is offered exclusively in English and may be completed as a part-time or full-time course.
Target Audience
The master studies are aimed at people who are interested in studies in tourism which enable them to specialise and extend their knowledge as part of a compact course. The practical and methodological skills are expertly combined with research and leadership competencies. The programme is unique in Switzerland in regard to its content and didactic format, as well as its consistent international outlook. Featuring an international team of selected tourism lecturers, the programme is characterised by an international student body that emphasises becoming acquainted with diverse languages and backgrounds in an intercultural exchange.
Equipment
All students are required to commence studies in possession of a laptop. If so desired, the IT department will configure the laptop for the student.
Study Duration and Class Schedule
The master studies in tourism take one and a half years or three semesters to complete.
The lessons usually take place on three consecutive working days.
Class schedule: Monday to Wednesday from 8.15–16.50 and 17.00–18.35, if necessary. In general the half-day courses consist of four lessons, the full-day courses consist of eight lessons.
ECTS Credits and Title
Total of 90 ECTS credits. Title: Master of Science (MSc.) in Business Administration Major Tourism.
Admission
The admission to studies at master’s level requires a bachelor’s degree or diploma of a university of applied studies in Business Studies, Economics, Business Law, Industrial Engineering or Tourism. For applicants with alternative degrees, there are special conditions for admission.
Allocation of Study Places
The study places for the master studies in tourism are allocated through a selection process using the following criteria: Date of application, formal entry qualifications, quality of qualifications, professional experience, as well as personal motivation. Additionally, there will be a selection interview.
The study registration is required to include a CV that has to be accompanied by a cover letter outlining the motivation for applying for the study place and participating in tourism master studies.

Students, who have resided in Switzerland or Lichtenstein at least three years prior to commencing the studies:
