Research Area Start-up & Growth
Regional Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurial activity is considered to be important for regional economic development and growth, but considerably varies between regions. Thus, new firm formation and growth is strongly influenced by regional conditions. We examine the factors influencing the start-up rate, success and failure of new ventures.
University and Corporate Spin-offs
Linking scientific discoveries with entrepreneurial activities as sources of new knowledge has developed rapidly as a particular driver for economic growth. There has been a tremendous increase in the creation of spin-offs from universities in European countries within the last ten years. But also corporate spin-offs out of established firms do play an important role in developing disruptive technologies. We focus on the various success factors for both types of spin-offs.
Entrepreneurship and Management Education at Universities
The complexity of dynamic global markets and changing economic environments require a new understanding of managerial and entrepreneurial role models.
Our research focuses on the structures, the contents and the implementation of entrepreneurship as well as management education where not only the objectives of an educational program but also applicants' and students' needs and expectations are taken into account.
Corporate Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurial activities within established firms aims to foster new business activities (corporate venturing), new product and process innovations, new market development as well as strategic renewal. We focus on the requirements and needs that allow and support entrepreneurial behaviour of employees.
